21st June 2012
It’s set to be an odds-on favourite with staff as Rehab Enterprises has officially opened its latest “SMILES” outlet at the Paddy Power head office in Clonskeagh. The opening was attended by Angela Kerins, Chief Executive of Rehab Group, Paddy Power, Head of Communications at Paddy Power, and Mike Malloy, Managing Director, Baxter Storey, as well as representatives from Rehab Enterprises and shop staff.
The Paddy Power outlet is the tenth to be opened in Rehab Enterprises’ rapidly-growing network across Dublin which includes stores in Dáil Éireann, RTÉ and the head offices of Citibank, Eircom, Ulster Bank, AIB, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Vodafone and Trinity Hall.
Rehab Enterprises, part of the Rehab Group, operates a range of highly successful businesses, in addition to retail, including information security management, recycling and logistics management. It operates a unique social employment model and has a diverse workforce of 400-strong staff of whom nearly half are people with disabilities.
Promoting the Employment of People with Disabilities Seamus Clancy, Director of Enterprises, Rehab Group commented, “Rehab’s mission is to promote the employment of people with disabilities and others who are marginalised. This store and the nine other shops operating under the “SMILES” brand offer a unique employment model which sees people with disabilities work alongside those without. We hope that all major employers will see the benefit of having a “SMILES” newsagents operation within their premises, enabling people with disabilities to maximise their skills and talents by building careers in retail.”
Rehab Enterprises has a range of individually tailored supports in place to encourage and maintain the employment of people with disabilities, including a scheme whereby counsellors assist employees on an ongoing basis at their place of work.
